Upper bounds on what an envelope (and the options) may carry, checked before any KDF runs: an envelope edited on disk must not make unlock hang (PBKDF2 iterations) or exhaust the worker’s memory (scrypt N × r), and its size stays within what chrome.storage.local holds.
